I’ve come up with a list of common questions to help you in the decision making process. If you have a question that’s not in this FAQ, you’re more than welcome to contact me.

What does all of this mean? Most of these features I’ve never heard of.

Would you believe me if I told you this was the shortened version? Yeah. Since describing every feature would make this answer extremely long, I’ve made a PDF with each feature and description.

How do I pay for a maintenance plan?

Monthly: If you’re located in Canada, please pay by e-transfer. If you’re outside of Canada, you’ll be billed through Stripe or Square and can either pay recurring payments manually or automatically each month. To set up automatic payments, when you go to pay just select the ‘Auto pay future invoices’ option.

Annual: If you’re paying yearly (which gives you 1 month free) and are located in Canada, please do so by e-transfer. If you’re outside of Canada, you can choose between Stripe, Square, or PayPal.

Can I get a discount if I pay upfront annually instead of monthly?

Yes, I will give you one month free if you pay for a full year upfront. Please be aware that you will not be able to upgrade or downgrade your plan during that time. Once paid, you’re committing to a year’s worth of maintenance.

Can I upgrade or downgrade from a plan? What about cancelling?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade from a plan, but no more than once per year. If you’re going from no plan to a care plan, there may be an initial additional fee, depending on how much cleanup is needed.

If you’re going from a care plan to no plan, I will revert your plugins back to the free versions, and you will no longer receive the benefits of being on a paid plan. I am still more than willing to assist you with content support for $75/hour, but will no longer be able to help you with anything security, backup, speed/optimization, or SEO related.

To cancel your plan, please email Michelle at requesting that your plan be cancelled. Maintenance services will conclude at the end of your last paid month.

Don’t you provide WordPress maintenance instructions to all clients?

Yes, I do provide a PDF of maintenance instructions to all clients so that they can maintain their site themselves if they choose to do so.

I’ll already have the basic plugins set up so that the majority of what you’ll need to do is update them regularly, along with the theme and WordPress core. I’ll explain how to do these updates, as well as how to restore a previous backup if there is a problem with one of the updates. I will set up these backups to be stored in my secure Dropbox account, so you will need to switch it to your own account ahead of time if you don’t want to have to pay me to get your backup and restore it for you. If there is malware detected in one of your daily security scans, you will have to contact a company that can clean it for you.

I will also explain how to make updates to your content, such as adding an event, changing your hours, or updating your employee section. If you’re having any difficulties with these content updates I can assist you for $75/hour.

If you later choose to go on a paid maintenance plan with me, there may be an initial additional charge, depending on how much cleanup is needed.

Can’t I just buy the plugins so I can bypass the monthly fees?

You’re more than welcome to purchase your own plugins, but please know that you will have to do all the setup yourself, you will need to keep everything on your site up-to-date to avoid any security risks, and you’ll have to pay yearly and/or monthly fees to the respective companies. If a problem arises, it is up to you to contact the support team of the related plugin company to figure out a solution and follow their instructions to fix it.

I understand that paying a monthly fee can feel daunting, but you don’t have to commit to more than one month at a time (after the initial 3 months). There’s always the option to try it out for those first 3 months, and if you’re not satisfied, you can cancel and not pay for any future months. Another option is for you to pay annually. If you choose to do so, I’ll give you a month’s worth of the plan for free.

What are the differences between the 3 care plans?

The Essential Care plan provides you with the essentials of a strong maintenance plan, without some of the extras to save on costs. You’ll be protected with daily remote malware scanning, an enhanced web application firewall, and have daily secure off-site backups. You’ll get broken page and link monitoring with fixes once a month, and have uptime monitoring. You’ll get WordPress core, theme, and plugin updates once a month, which is the recommended minimum. You will not have your updates tested safely on a staging site before going live, and you won’t receive monthly security and back-up reports.

The Premium Care plan provides you with everything needed for a strong and comprehensive maintenance plan. Your site will be constantly scanned remotely for malware, will be protected by an advanced web application firewall, includes uptime monitoring, and have daily secure off-site backups. You’ll get broken page and link monitoring with fixes, but they will be fixed within one week of being detected. Your images will be hosted on a CDN so they are further optimized and increases your site’s speed. You’ll receive WordPress core, theme, and plugin updates every week.

The Ultimate Care plan provides you with everything needed for a strong and comprehensive maintenance plan plus more. In addition to everything included in the Premium Care plan, your backups will be encrypted, your updates will be safely tested on a staging site so if anything were to go wrong it won’t affect your live site, and there are monthly security and backup reports.

Can I be on a maintenance plan with Worth It Designs if my website was designed by someone else?

Yes, you can be on a plan if your website was designed by someone else, but it depends upon the theme being used and condition of the site. There will be an initial fee for setup and for any cleanup or fixes that are required. If I believe I won’t be able to assist you to the best of my abilities, then I can refer you to someone else.

Why is the cheapest paid plan $129/month?

I believe in providing the best product and service possible, so I have spent hours upon hours researching the best solutions to security, backups, speed/performance, and SEO optimization, which don’t all come at a low cost. I’ve done my best to meet a balance of cost and value, but there are things I won’t budge on, like security. I could give you a plan that has only half the features of the Essential Care plan, but it would make your site vulnerable to attacks and end up being a waste of money in the long run.

In addition to paying for these solutions, you’re getting regular updates and fixes to ensure the health of your website, additional support each month, and peace of mind knowing that your website is being well taken care of for you.
